MMSFE Scheme Jammu & Kashmir for Additional 5 Kg Ration

Jammu & Kashmir Government has launched a new scheme, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Food Entitlement (MMSFE) that will provide 5 kg additional ration per head each month to the poor of the state. The Government is already providing 5 kg ration per head on a monthly basis under the National Food Security Act, the new scheme will add to it and it will be now 10 kg. Considering the geographical conditions, in some snow bound and lower productive areas of the state even 13 kg ration per head was also distributed.

MMSFE Yojana

The supplement security scheme has been launched by Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti with a view to ensuring the safety of the food to the needy people of the state. The scheme has come into effect since July 2016. The scheme has been named so to honor the former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.


Department of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution take care of the distribution of ration to the people. Measures have been taken that the guaranteed food is provided to the people belonging to the underprivileged sections of the state.

Features of the Scheme

  • Families having up to 6 members will get the benefit of the scheme.Rice will be provided at nominal price Rs 3 per kg and wheat at Rs 2 per kg.
  • About 81 lakh people in the state will get the benefit of the scheme.
  • Rs 358 crore will be spent annually on the scheme.
  • New godowns have been constructed to store up to 83,000 quintal ration safely. The food grain is packed in bags that can keep it safe for a longer time.

Who gets the Benefits of MMSFES?

The families having 1 to 6 family members that fall under Priority Households (PHH) and Non-Priority Households (NPHH) category will get benefits of the additional 5 kg food grain under the scheme apart from the NFSA entitlement.

The benefit is not provided to the AAY beneficiaries who are already being provided 35 kg ration irrespective of the family size.

MMSFE ensures all the families get sufficient food grains to feed their family members.
