Central Staffing Scheme Vacancies: Central Government of India appoints officers for the post of joint secretary, deputy secretary and Directors, which are highly prestigious and are considered key positions in the government. Central staffing is set up to help appoint right people for the said post.

There are only 36 categories of class-I officers who can be considered for the post. Every year authorities prepare a list of officers from participating group-A services and the central staffing scheme selects officers from the list to appoint for DS/directors’ post.
Eligibility for participating in Staffing Selection Scheme
If you are in any of the services in participating Group-A services that include IAS, IPS, and IFS, and has served for minimum 9 years, you are eligible to apply for it.
How to Apply for Staffing Selection Scheme

- Go to the website at www.persmin.nic.in.
- Click on the link ‘Central Staffing Scheme’ displayed on the top left of the home page.
The applicant officer will have to log in to their account in order to apply. In order to get your login username and password, you need to send an email containing your name, allotment year and cadre to firstname.lastname@example.org. The application will be forwarded to the Department of Personnel and Training.
The authorities will scrutinize and validate your application. The selection will be made through a structured approach and concerning authorities will be contacted. The selected candidate will be posted to the location based on the availability of vacancies. Most of the positions are located in Delhi.
The posts are offered for a tenure of 4 years for the post of deputy secretary and 5 years for the post of directors and joint secretary. The staffing selection can issue appointment orders only after recommendations form Civil Services Board and approval from the concerned ministry. There is a mandatory cooling off period between two stints of the deputation to such post.
