Get Insurance cover of Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana 2017
PMSBY SBI Certificate/Form: Though insurance has become the necessity, the majority of the people in India can’t afford it. The Government of India has taken initiative to help its people get insurance cover in their reach with Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, PMSBY which has been launched on May 9, 2015.
PMSBY is an accidental insurance scheme, one of the three social security schemes released by the Government. It is an insurance provided for one year period from June to May. It is to be renewed every year. The scheme has been hailed by people from all walks of life and has got the tremendous response from the economically weaker section of the people; over 10 crore people have already enrolled under the Yojana.
PMSBY Eligibility and Premium
People between 18 and 70 years of age can avail benefits of the Yojana. It is made available at the very nominal annual premium of ₹12 plus 14% service tax. It is linked to Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana bank account. The Yojana is offered by public sector general insurance companies in collaboration with various banks. The aadhaar card is the mandatory document to link to the scheme.
The premium is automatically debited to your account in the month of June every year. If it is not debited for any reasons, the policy will commence only when the premium is paid. The premium is likely to remain equally low for upcoming many years.
PMSBY Coverage Benefits
It covers against accidental death or disability, the nominee will be provided with ₹2 lakh in the event of accidental death or permanent full disability; whereas in case of partial disability; the payment is ₹1 lakh.
Permanent full disability is defined as irrecoverable loss of both eyes, loss of an eyesight, loss of both hands or loss of both feet; whereas permanent partial disability includes irrecoverable loss of an eyesight or unable to use a hand or foot. Besides accident, the coverage is considered death due to natural calamity or even murder; whereas suicide is not considered.
It is not a Medicalim and won’t reimburse for medical expenses followed by accident which caused death or disability.
How to Enroll for PMSBY
The enrollment is a simple and easy process. You just download the form www.jansuraksha.gov.in/Forms-PMSBY.aspx, fill it out and submit it to the bank. Some of the banks even provide SMS-based enrolment facility.
PMSBY Claim Process
In order to make the claim, you have to fill out the claim form and submit it to the bank in which you have linked up your account with PMSBY. You can download the claim form online at www.jansuraksha.gov.in/Forms-PMSBY.aspx.
You also have to submit necessary documents such as death certificate, FIR or Post Mortem Report, proof of accident, insurance certificate etc with the claim form. The bank will submit all the documents to insurance office which will process the claim. Once processed, the claim amount will be transferred to the bank account of an insurer and the nominee can take the remittance.
